The short answer is no, we are not running yet. Not a lot anyway. We are getting some movement and easing into increased workloads while trying to prevent injuries.

Progress this week

Over the past week, I have had 6 workouts and one active rest day. I sprinkled a one hour walk in every morning before breakfast to speed up weight loss. As you can see I am not really running far at all, but I guess building base and breathing capacity or something.

Weight loss and weekly dilemma

My weight is marginally down, to 93kg. I have a goal of being sub 85 by race day, and that is starting to look like a challenge, in particular since I am going to Rome next week. Wine, pasta and pizza are my vices, for sure.

Anyway this weeks dilemma was interesting for sure. Due to work and overall life it has been challenging to get more than 4-6 hours sleep, which is fine for my usual life but less than ideal for the recovery required to win this bet. But on the other side, I don't want to skip my daily walks either. Assuming I spend 15 mins to get ready, and 15 mins to shower etc after the walk, that is 90 minutes for a one hour walk. I asked chatGPT: keeping my sub 50 min goal in mind, and assuming I have to choose one or the other, is it better to get an additional 90 minutes of sleep, or get my daily walk in? The answer was a strong yes on the sleep. So until vacation where I have more time I have decided to skip the daily walk in favor of more sleep, and we will see how it goes I guess!
